Records of Ireland’s historical railway companies
Below are links to browsable lists of the records of the railway companies that were established in Ireland between the 1830s and the early 1900s. Most of these companies were merged into the Great Southern Railways Company in 1924, which later became CIÉ. For some companies that operated in what became Northern Ireland in 1920, CIÉ Group Archives holds minimal or no records, the records for these companies can usually be found in the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland. Additionally, the Irish Railway Record Society holds large quantities of operational and employee records from all the companies.
